Racine Neighborhood Watch, Inc. (RNW), was founded in 1981 in Racine, WI. This non- profit organization works with residents in low- to moderate-income areas to create safe, friendly and attractive neighborhoods and empower residents to take responsibility throughout the community. Racine, Wisconsin, located between Chicago and Milwaukee, is the most impoverished of Wisconsin's 72 counties. Racially diverse, and with crime statistics comparable to larger cities, the need is great to build positive relationships among residents, between police and citizens, and within neighborhoods.

Through longstanding partnerships with local and regional law enforcement, local officials and other agencies, residents in formerly troubled areas have reclaimed their neighborhoods and have seen large decreases in violent crime in central city areas in recent years.

Crime prevention and quality of life concerns are important to all residents. RNW has held over 800 block watch meetings; currently there are nearly 350 active blocks. They host monthly neighborhood meetings as well as neighborhood advocacy and community-building projects.

RNW also plans Group Mission Trip Workcamps, which are high-energy home repair trips during which youth work hard to improve the living situations of people in need while also building strong relationships with friends and youth leaders.

The Scleroderma Foundation-Tri-State Chapter is based out of Binghamton, NY and serves the states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The Scleroderma Foundation's Tri-State Chapter was established to help both the person dealing with the disease and their family and friends.

Scleroderma is a rare, often chronic and debilitating disease of the body's connective tissue, and is generally classified as one of the autoimmune rheumatic diseases. Hardening of the skin is one of the most visible manifestations of the disease. There are approximately 300,000 cases in the USA and more than 2.5 million world-wide.

There are 20+ chapters similar to the Tri State Chapter in the USA. Their mission is to enhance the public's awareness of this disease and to stimulate and support research designed to identify the cause of and cure for scleroderma as well as improve methods of treatment.

The Tri State Chapter offers a number of support groups which provide a setting that is conducive for sharing concerns, information and feelings, in a confidential environment, where members provide encouragement, coping strategies and mutual support. Meetings have both a social and an educational component which may include a guest speaker or DVD presentation.

Team Nicholas, based out of Plainfield, IL, brings comfort and joy to children and families facing long term medical care and hospital stays. The founders of the organization, Joanna and Bart Veghts, understand how difficult it is to have a critically ill child. They lost their son Nicholas to Leukemia in February 2012. They vowed to honor Nicholas' memory by providing other families in the same situation with gifts that bring bright moments and a smile at the most difficult time.

Over 1000 families have been supported through this organization at Comer Children's Hospital, Edward Hospital in Naperville and at the Ronald McDonald Houses throughout Chicago area.

Monthly donations provided through the Team Nicholas non-profit include everything from Air Mattresses for parents to sleep on, to gift baskets for the patients and parents, to Ipads for the Radiation Room at the hospital, as well as donated meals to various Ronald McDonald Rooms & Homes in area hospitals.

Michael's Dream Foundation, based out of Exton, PA, is a grass-roots initiative started by people from all over the world who want to make a real difference in the lives of children by helping them to recover from illness and injury in as short a time as possible. Poor emotional health can weaken a body's immune system, which not only increases the chance of becoming ill, but can also lengthen an existing period of illness. This is true for adults and children alike, but can be more extreme in children because of their naturally fragile emotional state.

Michael's Dream Foundation began in 2012 with the primary purpose of raising the capital and support required to build a new children's hospital from the ground up. This is still the ultimate goal but while building a solid foundation and gaining the knowledge needed to make this dream come true, the concept for the Dream Box Program was born.

The Michael's Dream Box is an insulated, fabric lunchbox with handles and pockets and is imprinted with the MDF logo. The "lunchbox" concept was intentional in that the children can continue to use their boxes even after they leave the hospital and are ready to go to school. When delivered each box contains an assortment of toys, games, books, puzzles and learning tools specifically designed for the group of children to receive them. The contents are selected based on the children's age ranges, language, culture, and world location.
