The Gathering Source (TGS) is a grassroots organization that began with a simple mission of delivering food to families in need. TGS has evolved into a multipurpose organization devoted to caring for hunger, education and wellness to improve the quality of life in rural communities. TGS programs include a food pantry that currently feeds 105 households per month, weekend meal pack programs for school children whose main source of food is school, community education on such topics as financial literacy, nutrition and cooking. More programs include creating school supply filled backpacks for children of families in need, local access to Dodge County services and organizations that provide assistance, and a summer produce exchange program providing access to nutritious foods.

The Lupus Foundation of Pennsylvania was founded in 1975 by Barbara Vandergrift, a lupus patient, as a grassroots initiative. Their number one priority is to provide caring, knowledgeable support and resources to those impacted by lupus. They provide programming and service initiatives geared to reach those populations most impacted by lupus in new and innovative ways. With infrastructure improvements such as rebranding, technology upgrades, talent management and capacity building they are providing cutting-edge support and outreach. They are embarking on state-wide canvassing of lupus education and awareness programming. Early lupus detection and treatment is the key to better health outcomes and can usually lessen the progression and severity of the disease. Until there is a cure for lupus, supporting and educating all Pennsylvanians is vital.

Middle Tennessee Friends of Sacred Selections is the host to local fundraising events in the Nashville, Tennessee area. Monies raised at our events support Sacred Selections, which is a non-profit foundation that is dedicated to helping fund adoptions so that more children can experience the joy, security, and love of a home. Since its founding in 2006, Sacred Selections funding has provided grants that have either fully or partially covered adoption expenses for 231 adoptions!

The Unity Games were created in order to improve community relationships among the youth by exposing the different ethnic and cultural diversities to a common bond, or common experience. The Unity Games is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization based in Staten Island, dedicated to using innovative education strategies, basketball games, and social activities that encourage friendships and erase racial and cultural divides.

Each year, the Unity Games bring together middle school students from diverse communities from across New York City, New Jersey and Washington D.C., for a two-day educational event. Before the Games begin, each team is integrated to be racially and culturally balanced, ensuring that the children immediately interact with someone who is different. By putting children in unfamiliar situations, encouraging immediate inter-racial interaction and by finding teachable moments throughout the weekend, the Unity Games break down barriers for understanding. By the end of the two days, friendships and connections are made between children from all walks of life and the adolescents leave with important skills and lessons which help erase their fears. The workshops include the topics of cyber-bullying, cultural diversity, gang awareness, health and fitness, and overcoming obstacles.
